The Mercer Court Apartments at the University of Washington won an award for residential interiors from the Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau. The contractor was Northwest Partitions and the designer was Ankrom Moisan Architects.

The Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau on May 1 handed out 20 awards for outstanding wall and ceiling projects at the association's 64th annual convention and trade show in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Awards were given for commercial and residential projects, for both interior and exterior finishes. They also were given for light-gauge steel framing, acoustical suspended ceilings, historical preservation and renovations/restorations. Nine awards were given to projects in Washington, six in Oregon and five in British Columbia.
Three projects at the University of Washington were winners, including Husky Stadium, Odegaard Undergraduate Library and Mercer Court Apartments.
Western Partitions and Performance Contracting were multiple winners, each taking home five awards.
Projects were judged on design, jobsite innovation and/or conditions, quality of workmanship, use of materials and overall effect.
The judges were retired architect John Greiner, NWCB technical consultant Terry Kastner, former NWCB executive director and industry expert Bob Drury, NWCB executive director Mark Eisenmann, and John Killin, executive director of Associated Wall and Ceiling Contractors of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
