Descr: Sound Transit is currently in the preliminary engineering phase for the Central Link Light Rail Line in Seattle. Sound Transit plans a systemwide procurement for light rail systems and equipment. Of specific interest are the following: 1) train signaling; 2) communications systems including: public address, variable electronic passenger information signs, tunnel radio, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), fiber optic and communications network, closed-circuit television surveillance systems; 3) central control monitoring, conrol and data collection equipment, consoles and display; 4) traction power substations; 5) overhead contact systems; 6) vehicle maintenance equipment; 7) uninterruptable power supplies; 8) standby diesel engine generators; 9) maintenance-of-way equipment; 10) elevators and escalators; 11) tunnel emergency ventilation fans and dampers; 12) electrical distribution switchboards, panelboards and motor control centers; 13) lighting equipment; 14) rail line and shop maintenance equipment; 15) fire alarm, detection and protection system; and 16) direct fixation track fasteners. Manufacturers experienced in design, fabrication and supply of equipment are requested to provide letters of interest to Kim Coon, Sound Transit, 1100 Second Ave., Ste. 500, Seattle, WA 98101-3423. The letter of interest should include a list, description and technical specifications of the equipment available along with general company information, and any brochures describing that equipment. Also included should be two product line catalogs, if available, and typical lead times for equipment installation or delivery, if applicable, from notice-to-proceed through design, manufacture and delivery to site. This information will be used to identify viable, cost-effective design options and to develop suitable contract packaging specifications. Firms may contact the owner to present in person options which they feel will be of special value to the project. The owner will purchase equipment and systems through a competitive process.
