On the Block: Another big complex planned for Columbia City, with 242 units and retail
Investor John Tran of Rainier Pacific Properties bought a sloping 1.5-acre commercial property at 4716 Rainier Ave. S. in 1999 for $2.3 million. The 50-year-old building there is home to a post office and some medical offices.
Tran formed a venture with Lake Union Partners in 2015, when planning began for a mixed-use project, with Johnston Architects as the designer.
