The city of Kirkland yesterday paid $10.5 million for a furniture store building that it plans to convert next year to house police and courts.
The project is part of a $49.9 million plan to accommodate the city's growth. Due to the impending annexation of three unincorporated areas, Kirkland's population will increasing from 49,000 to 82,000.
