New $80M transfer station at Bow Lake

    Rainwater will be collected to wash floors and reduce dust. The station will also use waste heat from compactors to heat offices.

    King County's Solid Waste Division is preparing to build a new $80 million transfer and recycling station at Bow Lake in Tukwila that must be innovative, economical and last for about 40 years. The station may be the first of its kind in the country to include a material recovery facility.
