SEATTLE — Starting in 2010, the city of Seattle will offer rebates to property owners that disconnect roof downspouts from the combined sewer system and direct the runoff into cisterns or rain gardens.
A free class on Nov. 10 will prepare contractors and design/build professionals to work with owners to locate and size rain gardens on their property, and to install the systems to meet the city's requirements for rebates. The class is limited to licensed contractors and design professionals.
