Paul Reiter, executive director of the London-based International Water Association, was in Seattle this week. As a country, he said, the U.S. needs to change the way it deals with, builds for and treats water and Seattle can lead the way.
Reiter, who used to live here and was director of the Office of Strategic Policy for Seattle Public Utilities from the utility's inception until 2001, said this city and region have a unique history of thinking outside the box and a spirit of innovation. “I'm really confident that if there's any place in the U.S. that can do it, it's here.”
