LONGVIEW (AP) — Shooting pulses of water down southwest Washington's Cowlitz River could flush out volcanic debris as an alternative to dredging, according to a proposal being considered by the Army Corps of Engineers.
The idea is one of 16 under consideration by the regional corps office in Portland. A recommendation for a combination of measures is more likely than a single approach because fish, flooding and other factors must be considered, Timothy S. Kuhn, Cowlitz-Toutle project coordinator, told The Daily News of Longview.
