AEC firms measure carbon and cut costs

Reducing the carbon footprint of your business can cut costs and benefit the environment but it's a tricky process. So a number of local architecture, engineering, construction and consulting firms have turned to the Seattle Climate Partnership for help.


Richard Bendix of HomeStreet Bank said his company is trying to cut its carbon emissions 15 percent this year. Here are his tips for other businesses who are considering cutting their emissions:
• Have a green champion
• Have support from the top
• Create a cross functional green team
• Keep learning
• Start with things that are easy to track and automate
