Ernestine Anderson Place is a 60-unit apartment complex at 2010 S. Jackson St. in Seattle that will house seniors who are homeless and low-income.
The $13 million project by the Low Income Housing Institute was named for jazz legend Ernestine Anderson.
Along with studio and one-bedroom apartments, the building has an exercise room, library with computers, community patio and garden space.
Sound Mental Health will provide supportive services on site. Operation Nightwatch is the community partner.
Seniors with incomes up to 50 percent of the area median income are eligible. Rents will vary according to income level. Tenants are responsible for paying their own electric bill, while LIHI will cover water, sewer and garbage.
Funding came from the city of Seattle, King County, Enterprise, U.S. Bank, Washington State Housing Finance Commission, United Way of King County, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Seattle Housing Authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
