Mount Vernon finds money for floodwall

MOUNT VERNON, Skagit County (AP) — The city of Mount Vernon has received enough money to begin construction of a floodwall that will eventually provide flood protection for the downtown area.

Bud Norris, the Mount Vernon mayor, said the city was awarded an $800,000 grant from a state program to help complete the funding of the project, the Skagit Valley Herald reports.
