Architectural billings were up in October, reaching their highest mark since August of 2008, according to the American Institute of Architects, which released its monthly survey on Wednesday.
Nationally, the October rating was 46.1, up from 43.1 in September. The West still scored the lowest of any region in the country, but jumped more than six points from last month. Based on a survey of architects, the index is a leading economic indicator of construction activity. AIA said there is a nine- to 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending.
