Viaduct replacement means opportunities for developers

A key piece of the new state Route 99 will be what planners call the U Tube. It will connect Terminal 46 to interstates 5 and 90, and the BNSF railyard. This rendering does not show a new elevated portion of Alaskan Way South that will connect the waterfront to East Marginal Way South.
The new Highway 99 could create the opportunity for a private mixed-use development on Seattle's central waterfront, transportation officials say.
