It was a three-peat for Rafn Co. at the 2014 Excellence in Construction Awards, which were presented Wednesday night in Bellevue by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington.
Rafn took home the Eagle of Excellence for its work on the Emerald City Commons mixed-use development in Seattle. The Bellevue-based contractor also won that top award in 2013 and 2012.
For this year’s award, Rafn was cited for saving money on the project, along with an accelerated schedule and coordinating with seven funding agencies and two nonprofit owners. Emerald City Commons also won in the Mixed-Use Construction category.
ABC handed out eight other awards during the banquet at Meydenbauer Center.
This year’s judges were John Schaufelberger of the University of Washington, consultant Robert Jayne, Scott Rhodes of Rhodes Architecture, Kate Spitzer of The Miller Hull Partnership, Pat Logan of CollinsWoerman and Benjamin Minnick of the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce.
